Comparing calibrations¶
Use Calibration → Compare... to compare your current calibration with a previous parameter export. This is useful for checking repeatability or understanding the effect of a model or setting change.
Comparison does not change your current calibration.
Choose a reference¶
Complete or import a calibration, then select the reference JSON file. Both calibrations must have the same device counts and ordering, with matching camera image dimensions. Devices are matched by order, not name.
Read the results¶
The log reports:
- Extrinsic differences: changes in the relative device positions and orientations, in millimetres and milliradians where applicable.
- Intrinsic differences: how differently the calibrations project rays into each camera, in pixels.
These are differences between calibrations, not errors against a known reference. Two results can agree and still share the same bias. Check Analysis as well.
Inspect the maps¶
Choose a camera, then select Magnitudes to see the size of the projection differences or Directions to see their orientation. Hover for values. The circular colour key is a legend, not measurement data.
Use the wheel to zoom, drag to pan, and double-click to reset. Right-click for Reset view or Export as .png.
Large comparisons can take time. Watch the log for progress and use Cancel if needed; cancellation may not be immediate. If a camera cannot be compared, Calib GEOM reports the problem while keeping other available results.
