Python API Overview

This is the Python API documentation for libCalibGeom, adapted from the C++ library workflow.

libCalibGeom is a feature-rich calibration library for geometric camera calibration. It supports automatic target detection, initialization, nonlinear optimization, and analysis for single- and multi-camera setups.

A typical Python calibration workflow is:

  1. Detect and refine target features in images.
  2. Define the calibration setup (cameras, targets, poses, detections).
  3. Initialize parameters to get a robust starting point.
  4. Optimize all parameters jointly.
  5. Analyze calibration quality and stability.

1) Feature Detection

Use the detection and subpixel functions to extract accurate image features:

2) Define the Calibration Setup

Build a Calibration object and add cameras/targets/poses that describe your rig and observations:

3) Initialize

Initialize before optimization to obtain a strong starting point and avoid poor local minima.

4) Optimize

Run bundle adjustment to refine intrinsic and extrinsic parameters.

5) Analyze

Inspect calibration quality using comparison and error-analysis tools.
